About me
Natalie Sjelin is the Interim Director for the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS) at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA). Ms. Sjelin obtained her Masters of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity from UTSA and has worked in this field for over 20 years. Her experience includes designing, facilitating, and executing cyber security exercises, and developing and delivering cyber security training at various levels. Her focus has been working with communities to build viable and sustainable cyber security programs. Most recently, Ms. Sjelin has joined the Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security (ICSC) as an adjunct faculty member in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business teaching Network Security.
Ms. Sjelin plays a significant role in the National Cyber Preparedness Consortium (NCPC) initiatives to design and deliver cyber security training for the nation. She also served as the Director of Support for the Information Sharing and Analysis Organizations (ISAO) - Standards Organization (SO). In this role, she led the development of the ISAO SO’s Support Group to assist ISAOs in their overall development and assisted ISAOs to hone their capabilities and services.
She speaks regularly for professional groups, meetings, panels and conferences around the country including the premier RSA conference. Ms. Sjelin has co-authored several white papers on Community Cyber Security topics and co-authored a chapter for the book, Cyber-Physical Protecting Critical Infrastructure at the State and Local Level and co-authored a book, Establishing Cyber Security Programs Through the Community Cyber Security Maturity Model (CCSMM), designed to assist communities in developing cybersecurity programs.
